American Bach Soloists Perform the St. John Passion

Host of KDFC’s Sacred Concert and Baroque by the Bay Sunday mornings, and renowned Baroque music expert, Jeffrey Thomas leads his American Bach Soloists in Bach’s great St. John Passion this Friday through Sunday in Belvedere, Berkeley, and San Francisco.

Two 20th-century giants are on the program for the SF Symphony this weekend. Hear the Divertimento and Serenade of Leonard Bernstein and Dmitri Shostakovich’s Symphony #5 in performances Thursday through Saturday at Davies. Andrey Boreyko guest conducts.

The Acclaimed Takacs Quartet at Stanford and Sonoma State

The Takács Quartet, in the latest of its highly-anticipated visits to the Bay Area, partners with Canadian piano virtuoso Marc-André Hamelin for the Dohnányi Piano Quintet No. 1, Beethoven’s Opus 131 Quartet, and more. Friday at Stanford’s Bing Concert Hall and Sunday afternoon in Weill Hall of the Green Music Center.

Free Concerts from the SF Chamber Orchestra: Serenade

The Dvorak Wind Serenade and the Brahms Serenade #2 are on the program this weekend for the admission-free SF Chamber Orchestra. Soprano Natalie Image will also be featured in the Bachianas Brasileiras #5 of Villa-Lobos. Serenade will be presented in San Francisco, Palo Alto, and Berkeley.
